I did the configuration via Swisscom SIM and only used it for Internet, but I did not configure telephony. At this point, it would be worth asking Swisscom, or perhaps something can be done via Swisscom Cockpit.

I'll make a long story short, yes, this thing is super bad. I've had the same experience as you... Outside (on the balcony) I can easily get 5G and barely in the door 4G. I tested it at three different locations in Switzerland -> was always the same... The locations were each +30km apart.

Yes, the Strong ROUTER 5G WIFI6 supports Internet access via SIM card, provided there is sufficient mobile phone reception. The manufacturer provides the following information regarding WLAN security: WPA2-PSK, WPA/WPA2-PSK and WPA3-SAE. Whether the router works in client mode in hotels, shops and trains depends on the respective infrastructure. If a login via a captive portal website is required and this only takes place when a website is called up, problems could arise. This would require the router to support a pass-through function or MAC address cloning. Unfortunately, we do not have this information. As we have no direct user experience with the product, we recommend that you ask your question in our Community. Customers often receive helpful answers there. Here is the link: https://www.digitec.ch/de/community Alternatively, you can also contact the manufacturer directly for further technical information: https://ch.strong-eu.com/de/kontaktieren-sie-uns/
