Professional shotgun condenser microphone with a robust metal housing and lightweight design. It offers strong directional characteristics with frequency-independent attenuation from the sides of the pickup direction. Battery operation is possible with the NTG-2. The package includes a windscreen, a stand clamp, and a carrying case. Shotgun microphones are ideal when positioning close to the sound source is impossible or undesirable, such as in broadcasting, stage, film sound, and video applications. The NTG-1 and NTG-2 models (the latter with a battery compartment) are particularly suitable for handheld and boom operation due to their low weight, but they can also be attached to camcorders via an adapter. In reporting, it is important that both microphones are very resistant to condensation – a morning outdoor shoot at minus 15 °C is therefore not a problem, at least not for the microphone. The slightly longer NTG-2 has a battery compartment and can be operated independently of mains power for up to 400 hours with a 1.5-V battery (AA). The magazine Videoaktiv Digital awarded the NTG-2 as the test winner in its issue 2/2007 with the rating "very good" and gave a purchase recommendation.
