Question about Ubiquiti UniFi AP NanoHD

Does the Nano also run stand-alone? You read a lot... Or is it effectively just an access point, i.e. an extension to an existing WLAN? I am no longer satisfied with my WLAN router and would like to change to this system. I currently have Quickline as my Internet provider, with a WLAN modem (WLAN is inactive). Apart from the cables, do I need to buy anything else? Thank you in advance :D

Hello Florian.
AP(stands for Access Point) NanoHD is effectively "only" an access point and intended as a component in a more complex network.
From your modem onwards, you need at least the following for a functioning WLAN:
- UniFi Security Gateway (the actual router)
- PoE Injector (included with the AP)
- A machine running the controller software (e.g. UniFi Cloud Key, Raspi or other PC, Mac), which does not always have to be running, but at least for configuration and updates.
Overall, the system is very flexible, stable and reliable. However, you should have a little experience with networks to set it up. A "plug and play" approach is not likely to work here.
If you don't trust yourself to do that, I would rather look for a mesh system.
