Question about Synology Ds418
Good day Do you have any problems with the fans, or do the fans rattle like this? I even found a video on youtube: https://youtu.be/aSRnPJY0GXE It doesn't matter whether hard drives are installed or not, the fans are very audible. In the meantime, I have even received a replacement unit, but this one also has this "characteristic" :-(
The thing is under our desk in the office and is therefore barely audible. If you go very close to the device (as shown in the YouTube video), you can hear a quiet 'rattling'. I still have an old HP MediaSmart server and it has about the same volume.
I did not notice any rattling or an increase in volume with my unit. However, it is generally a rather loud unit.
The unit is definitely loud. I have installed Silent Wing fans and dampened it so that it is bearable for me.
Guys, thank you very much for your answers. From what I can read, this unit doesn't seem to be very quiet. I would have found it OK if the fans had just made an "airy" noise, but the rattling really gets on my nerves.
It would be a shame to invest another 30 - 50.- in a unit that costs over 400.- to make it quieter and in return give up the factory warranty! Somehow it doesn't make sense.
