Hello everyone, I have installed such a switch in my home, but the performance (down-, upload) is much worse than the WLAN of the Salt Fiber Box X6. To have a comparison, I installed the AP next to the Salt Box and then tested the speed. The test device is a MacBook Pro 2014. With the Salt Box, I achieved 658 Mbps download, 496 upload. With the AP it's only 150 Mbps. Do any settings need to be made? I can't imagine that the AP is that much worse. I also have the UniFi Cloud Key Plus Gen 2 in use. Many thanks for your help

There are many possible settings that can influence the performance of individual devices as well as the ability to operate many devices simultaneously. Firstly, you could check which band the Macbook is connecting to. And then you can make a choice between stability and speed tailored to your needs and interference etc. by selecting the channel width per AP or in the global AP settings. Many other advanced settings for the Wi-Fi you have set up can also have an effect, as can the firmware version installed on the APs.

One of the good aspects of Unifi APs is the wide range of setting options. You are not dependent on the settings chosen by the manufacturer being perfect for you. And one of the disadvantages of APs is, you guessed it, the wide range of setting options. It doesn't necessarily work perfectly out-of-the-box.

If you don't have any success just by trying out the settings, I would ask for advice in the Unifi forum.

In terms of speed, it sounds spontaneously as if you are on the 2G network and not 5G. You can deactivate 2G completely in the settings and then see how it works.
