Question about Synology DS923+
Hello Geeks 1) Have you tried to run a linux and a Windows 10 Virtual machine on this one? How is the performance? In case you dont know, you can do it with "'synology virtual machine manager' that you can install officially or unofficially. 2) How does it compare the performance of this AMD Ryzen R1600 with other NAS with Intel Celeron J4025? In case you have both and can run a virtual machine in both. 3) How's the transfer rate in KBps within your home network with the prehistorics 1Gbps network interface they come with? Thank you

Virtualization gives only a bad result, I made a virtual machine under Windows 11 with Virtual machine manager.
It's my first syno so I have no comparison to offer.
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to have a look at the data rates, but I'm on 10Gb.

The AMD R1600 is way more powerful than a underpowered Celeron J4025, the Celeron CPU is only a mediocre Dual Core CPU with two threads, the Ryzen is also Dual Core but is higher clocked and has 4 threads.

For virtual machines this way better and you can also install more RAM what also helps quite a lot.
You may get about 125 Megabytes/s transfer per Gigabit LAN connection.
