So I'm not sure I understand the question. I can see several possibilities:
- Box in wifi router mode <=> Asus in wifi receiver mode - no (but I admit I don't see the point)
- Box in wifi receiver mode <=> Asus in wifi router mode - idem
- Box in wifi router mode <=> network cable to Asus in wifi gateway mode - yes (but there will be two wifi networks, that of the box, that of the Asus)
- Box without wifi <=> network cable to Asus in wifi router mode - yes, that's even the point of buying a router like that
