Question about Teltonika TRB500

How does the device perform with 5G? I now have a Huawei (outdoor) with which I achieve an average of 500/100. Unfortunately, however, this router has "cracked" and needs to be replaced. Is the TRB500 a good alternative, even if you install it under a tiled roof, for example? Of course, an external antenna would be possible, but then I'm back to the price of an outdoor Zyxel or ZTE. Since I only need the bridge mode anyway, the TRB500 would just be a cheap option...

Unfortunately, I can't say anything about the ultimate max 5G performance, as I operate it outside in the provinces. But I have also mounted the device under the roof with the supplied antennas. I have a stable mobile signal of approx. -59bB (4G).

Here is another screenshot of a performance measurement from today, 28.10.2024 20:10h with the speed test from cnlab:

Provider: Swisscom, 4G/5G, full signal strength (all three LED bars on the device)

I can easily achieve the maximum 1 GB/s that the RJ45 Ethernet interface can deliver. This is stable and consistently high performance. In my opinion, there shouldn't be any major losses under a simple tiled roof - I operate the router in a concrete block flat and have practically full signal strength in the mobile network. If your phone shows a good signal strength, there should be no problems, especially as the four antennas (each 17cm long) should also be better than what is installed in every smartphone

In my opinion, the router is not worth it and I have returned it. Hotspot with my mobile was faster. I bought it afterwards https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/zte-mc889t3000-routers-35513313. It's worth it and the money is well invested.

Hello everyone
I also bought the TRB500 because I only get 60Mbit/s with DSL and nobody can offer me a solution. My neighbour has a 10Gbit line from Swisscom. Apparently it doesn't work 20 metres away....

The question now is, how should the 4 antennas be aligned? Vertically, horizontally, pointing to all 4 sides? I live slightly elevated above a small town on a hill, if that matters.

I would prefer to install the router in the attic under the tiled roof. However, it could also be protected behind a basement window if that would be better.

I would be pleased to receive an answer. Thank you very much.
Greetings Gregor
