I bought this battery as a replacement because the old one was no longer working and installed it in the Back-UPS Pro 900. And let the new one run for several days, and yet the battery charge indicator is always empty (no bars). Do I have to "reset" the Pro 900 first so that it knows that it has a new battery? If so, how do you do this? Or is the Pro 900 defective?

I would check the cable and the fit of the contacts. Normally you can see that the new battery is being charged immediately after replacement.

Normally, simply replacing the battery is sufficient. The device should recognise it. The device is restarted by removing the power for a few minutes. I would try cleaning the contacts.

No reset is necessary. If the battery was installed correctly (cable seat?) and is still not shown on the display, either this battery or the UPS is defective.
