Question about Synology DS1821+
In the Android app from Digitec, the "Often bought together with" section is displayed under the NAS. Why does this not appear in the normal browser? The Kingston memory module 13953675 (16 GB) is displayed there. Is this compatible with the Synology 1821+ ? Can I use this in addition to the 4 GB and then have 20 GB? Synology has no info on this or they only list the combinations 1x4 GB, 2x4GB, 2x8GB and 2x16GB. 4+8 or 4+16 do not exist there at all.

Hello, the DS1821+ has 2 memory banks. In principle, these can also be mixed - i.e. 4 GB + 16 GB = 20 GB. The compatible modules are listed on the Kingston page. I have 2 x Kingston SO-DIMM 16 GB DDR4-2666 ECC, RAM
(item no. IEMG2N21, unit price at that time approx. 70 EUR) and installed the freed 4 GB module in a DS1621+, so that both NAS systems are symmetrical (2x 16 GB and 2x 4 GB respectively). So I have no real experience with mixed configuration. By the way, Synology "complains" about the Kingston modules that they are not original from Synology. Nevertheless, they work perfectly for me. I recommend that you make sure that the RAM is with ECC. The ECC support of the DS1821+ was one of the reasons for buying the system. I have not regretted it to this day.

Thanks for the answers. So I will buy a Kingston 16GB module and try to use it with the original QNAP 4GB and inform here.
I run the DS1821+ without problems with 4 + 16 GB, but from Synology (original 4GB + Synology D4ECSO-2666-16G (1 x 16GB, DDR4-2666, SO-DIMM 260 pin).) The combination of modules of different sizes works without problems if they are compatible with the 1821+ per se (which seems to be the case with the Kingstons according to the previous answer).
