Julius Caesar, realizing that he cannot win the fight against the unyielding Gauls, follows the advice of his advisor Technocratus and invests money in the production of menhirs. This leads to Obelix becoming increasingly aloof and distancing himself from Asterix. Additionally, Obelix hires other villagers to meet the rising demand for menhirs, resulting in further conflicts within the village. This story is a brilliant parody by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, addressing the illusion of perpetual growth. The 2013 reissue features uniform coloring and newly lettered speech bubbles to prepare the Asterix albums for the future.
