Product details

Santiago Calatrava is world-renowned as an engineer, artist, and architect. From the Olympic Sports Complex in Athens 2004 to the World Trade Center Transportation Hub in Manhattan, he demonstrates a sensitive understanding of the interplay between aesthetics and structure.

He draws inspiration from many sources: Auguste Rodin's approach to sculpture and architecture, as well as the principles of classicism and Greek Cycladic art. Nature, which he sees as both mother and teacher, and NASA's space design also captivate him. Calatrava's works are both aerodynamic and organic. Natural forms and human movements shape his projects, with a particular fascination for the intersection of balance and dynamics.

This monograph explores Calatrava's buildings through detailed entries, photographs, and his distinctive watercolor sketches. It includes early structures such as the Mediopadana train station in Reggio Emilia and the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro, as well as recent projects like the Pavilion of the United Arab Emirates for Expo 2020 in Dubai, St. Nicholas Greek Church at Ground Zero in New York, and the sculpture Constellation in River Point Park in Chicago.

Also available as a limited art edition of 300 copies, featuring two signed lithographs by Santiago Calatrava and a custom-made box.
