You can also use the alarm clock without batteries, in which case it only works with the mains adapter supplied. In this case, the display is permanently illuminated and the brightness can be set to one of three levels. Without the mains adapter and only with batteries, the display remains invisible and is only activated briefly by sound or touch. A permanent mains connection is therefore required for operation without batteries.

The alarm clock features a touch function, allowing you to activate the display by touch. This feature is particularly useful when the device is operated with batteries, as the display remains invisible until activated by sound or touch.

I also tried to hide the display in mains operation, but I did not succeed either. If I remember correctly, this is only possible with battery operation according to the operating instructions.

I have three of these things in my house. All in mains operation. All of them have a minimum luminous display. But since I want to read the time at any time, I don't need the hand clapper function to activate it. Sorry, so I can't help you any further. A bit negative with these things is the automatic adjustment of the time, i.e. the installation without disturbing devices. PC screens, TV screens or bad reception... With two devices, time changeover is manual.

The clock usually resets itself at night for me. But a few weeks ago it committed treason and stopped at 1:45am. (Yes, I don't know how that works with a digital clock either). Anyway, it was a very strange night when the alarm on my mobile went off at the correct time.
