POPP Z-Weather

The POPP Z-Weather (Product Code: 005206) is an energy-autonomous wind and weather sensor powered by a small solar module. Thanks to its intelligent energy management and internal capacitor, the wind sensor can also send measurement results to the Z-Wave central unit at night. The energy management varies the sensor's "wake intervals" between 5 minutes (on sunny days) and 1 to 2 hours on cloudy days or at the start of the day. Additionally, the energy management ensures that the capacitor of the multi-sensor never discharges deeply, thus providing enough energy in case of emergencies to report gusty winds and storms, as well as twilight, triggering appropriate actions.

The multi-sensor is capable of capturing various values and transmitting them via Z-Wave radio to the smart home central unit.

Furthermore, the POPP Z-Weather calculates the energy yield that a solar system would produce at the same location. This is done by measuring the value through the solar cell and extrapolating it to a solar area of 1 square meter with 16% efficiency. For the also possible calculation of wind yield, every eighth rotation of the anemometer is counted, and the total is output as a pulse count.

With the POPP Z-Weather, you can automatically control your blinds, shutters, and awnings either through direct device association or via scenes. The brightness sensor is also suitable for turning on outdoor lighting at dusk and turning it off again the next morning.

- First energy-autonomous (solar-powered) Z-Wave radio sensor in the world
- First wind sensor with Z-Wave technology
- Multi-sensor measures various environmental values
- Direct device association (e.g., closing the awning independently of the central unit)
- Calculates solar and wind energy yield
