Z-Weather by POPP

The Z-Weather is an energy self-sufficient wind and weather sensor powered by a small solar panel. Thanks to its intelligent energy management and internal capacitor, the wind sensor can also send measurement results to the Z-Wave hub at night. The energy management varies the sensor's wake-up intervals between 5 minutes (on sunny days) and 1 to 2 hours on cloudy days or at the start of the day. Additionally, the energy management ensures that the capacitor of the multi-sensor never deeply discharges, so there is always enough energy available to report gusty winds and storms as well as twilight, triggering appropriate actions.

The multi-sensor is capable of capturing various values and transmitting them via Z-Wave radio to the smart home hub:

• Wind speed
• Air temperature
• Relative humidity
• Light intensity
• Air pressure
• Dew point

Furthermore, the Z-Weather calculates the energy yield that a solar system would generate at the same location. This value is captured via the solar cell and extrapolated to a solar area of 1 square meter with 16% efficiency. For the also possible calculation of wind yield, every eighth rotation of the anemometer is counted, and the total is output as a pulse count.

With Z-Weather, you can automatically control your blinds, shutters, and awnings either through direct device association or via scenes. The brightness sensor is also suitable for turning on outdoor lighting at twilight and turning it off again the next morning.
