Z-Weather by POPP

The Z-Weather is an energy-autonomous wind and weather sensor powered by a small solar module. Thanks to its intelligent energy management and internal capacitor, the wind sensor can also send measurement results to the Z-Wave hub at night. The energy management varies the wake-up intervals of the sensor between 5 minutes (on sunny days) and 1 to 2 hours on cloudy days or at the start of the day. Additionally, the energy management ensures that the capacitor of the multisensor never deeply discharges, maintaining enough energy to report gusty winds and storms, as well as twilight, triggering appropriate actions.

The multisensor is capable of capturing various values and transmitting them via Z-Wave radio to the smart home hub:

• Wind speed
• Air temperature
• Relative humidity
• Light intensity
• Air pressure
• Dew point

Furthermore, the Z-Weather calculates the energy yield that a solar panel would produce at the same location. This value is captured via the solar cell and scaled up to a solar area of 1 square meter with 16% efficiency. For the possible calculation of wind yield, every eighth rotation of the anemometer is counted, and the total is output as a pulse count.

With Z-Weather, you can automatically control your blinds, shutters, and awnings either through direct device linking (association) or via scenes. The brightness sensor is also suitable for turning on outdoor lighting at dusk and off again the next morning.
