Where do I connect an antistatic mat/bracelet?

I have underfloor heating throughout the house. Accordingly, I don't have any earthed connections on radiators. I would tend to use the earthing connection of a socket. Is that OK? Is there a prefabricated connection for this or do I have to make something with a banana plug. Or is that not necessary at all?

    Upgrade old PC with SSD

Good day to you all. I bought an old PC from a friend and only need to install hard drives. My question is: Is it worthwhile to install an SSD in an old PC? Or is an HDD completely sufficient? Unfortunately, I don't know the specs of the PC very well, as my colleague can't remember exactly. What I do know is the following: Graphics: Nvidia GTX1080 Processor: i7, overclocked (has a huge ventilation system on it) Motherboard: MSI, unfortunately could not find out which one My plan was to install an SSD for Windows and the games and then an HDD for everything else. But unfortunately I only have a very limited idea of the matter. Thanks for the help. Greetings

    ESD protection for PC construction

General questions for the community: - What ESD protection measures do you use when assembling a computer? - What experiences have you had with ESD damage? I ask this because I personally have never taken any special precautions with my builds. And if you look at the stock of ESD wristbands at Digitec, you can assume that they are not exactly hot sellers. As my area of expertise is electrical engineering, I am also aware that certain components (CMOS) are more susceptible to damage from ESD, and that ESD damage can also only show up as long-term damage. - Has anyone ever had bad luck and had to throw away a component with a high probability of ESD damage? - Is it worth buying the recommended protective equipment? - Which equipment makes more sense?
