Cat6 cables are designed for operating frequencies of up to 250 MHz. They are used for signal transmission at high data transfer rates (1 Gbps). Due to the high signal frequencies, special care must be taken during installation and assembly, particularly at the connection points of the wires. The individual wire pairs in Cat6 cables are twisted at different tightness levels, which further reduces susceptibility to interference compared to Cat5e. Application areas for Cat-6 cables include voice and data transmission, as well as multimedia and ATM networks.
