Are you familiar with networking basics, do you like to spend a few hours or days learning RouterOS and don't mind having to do a lot of manual work for all kinds of details? Then you'll get a router that delivers unbeatable performance and functionality in this price range. If you are looking for something that is easy to use, then a Mikrotik router is not the right choice.

According to the Init7 website, you need a BIDI SFP28 (for example https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/blueoptics-bidi-sfp28-transceiver-25gbase-bx-u-10km-transceiver-22752947) or one from Fiberstore or others. https://www.init7.net/de/support/routerinfos/ Don't have any illusions about 25Gbit: You can connect a 25Gbit interface, but except with unrealistically large packets and without ACLs/firewall rules, you won't achieve 25G throughput with this router (https://mikrotik.com/product/ccr2004_1g_12s_2xs#fndtn-testresults). On the other hand, you also need to have decent hardware/switches/servers/NAS in your home network in order to be able to connect to the network at 25G for a long time (but then you probably wouldn't have asked the question here, with "iPad on WLAN" the 2004 is long enough, even for several/many iPads on WLAN :-)). ). However, I don't know of a more suitable one: the CCR2116 (which I also have) "only" has 10Gbit SFP+ interfaces, and the CCR2216 is too loud, too expensive and too power-hungry. All in all, I think the 2004 for Init7 makes sense (can't get fibre7 myself due to lack of glass connection). There is also a sample config for the Mikrotik CCRs on the Init7 website (https://www.init7.net/de/support/routerinfos/2023_anleitung_mikrotik_fiber7_de_en_fr_03.pdf).

Hello, yes, the RAM is OS-dependent. I don't know why that is, but after the update you have 4GB. Attention, at my last update V7 was not yet stable but under testing, this as a hint. However, this may have already changed. The updates are free, at least at the time I did the last update. Website -> Download rules 🤙 Greetings

I would also be interested. I can't find this router on the list published by Swisscom. However, I would prefer a p2p line with a 4-fibre model, as I could then get a faster and better line with the router via init7. However, swisscom is not expanding this, not even with their lost court ruling. Swisscom: rather nothing than what we want. Back to the question, if anyone has a p2mp line and the xgs-pon adapter from swisscom, I could come by with the router for testing. I would be very interested. Please reply as well.
