I have an iPad with a USB-C connection. The iPad recognised the SanDisk when it was connected. (Presumably, connecting and recognising also works with your Joyroom multi-reading device with Lightning connection to your iPad).
Files can then be copied to the iPad (e.g. with the app 'Files'), but most apps (except e.g. 'Files') do not recognise the connected device. For example, if I have a picture on the 2GB disc, I can copy it to the iPad with 'Files', but I cannot transfer it to the 'Photos' app or import it into 'Photos'.
Sounds like a defect, unfortunately. I would send it in and not use it any more. Afterwards, it works intermittently and then you rely on it and have another data loss.
