Galaxus now recruiting managers for high-tech logistics hub in Neuenburg, Germany

Switzerland’s largest online retailer has kicked off construction work on its second logistics centre in Neuenburg am Rhein, Germany. Galaxus has commissioned TGW Logistics, an Austrian intralogistics provider, to install a highly automated combination of shuttle system, small goods warehouse and pouch sorter at the facility. The company has now started recruiting for a number of technical managers for the site.

The crown jewel of the new logistics centre is a 39-aisle shuttle warehouse housing more than 900,000 storage locations and an automated small parts warehouse containing 300,000 storage locations. To top all this off, a pouch sorter will take on the job of compiling the products that make up customer orders. The cardboard delivery boxes will be closed by a machine, then taken to the outgoing goods area, where they’ll be sorted by delivery route.

Michael Stolle, Managing Director at Galaxus Deutschland, said: «We’re building one of the largest and most cutting-edge logistics facilities in Germany, on a site spanning 60,000 square metres. By doing this, we’ll ensure that our customers in both Switzerland and the EU will continue to have a wide range of in-stock products available to them on Galaxus. We’ll also be able to go on delivering these products conveniently to their homes, as quickly as possible.»

In starting this project alongside its already operational warehouse, ON1, Galaxus is bringing one of the most state-of-the-art locations for online retail to the small town of Neuenburg am Rhein in the German region of Baden. ON1 (Operations Centre Neuenburg 1) went into operation in October 2025. ON2 is set to begin supplying Swiss warehouses in 2027, followed by end customers in Switzerland and the EU from 2028.

Although many of the facility’s processes will be automated, around 1,200 skilled workers will be employed at Galaxus in Neuenburg once both warehouses are fully operational. Robert Brohl, Head of Supply Chain Management said: «Human beings are still irreplaceable at many stages in our logistics process. For instance, when grabbing fragile items or placing products in delivery boxes. What the automated technology will do is make sure items reach our employees. They won’t have to walk for miles anymore.»

Three unfilled technical management vacancies

Galaxus is recruiting senior technical specialists and team leaders in Neuenburg to oversee the construction of ON2, eventually going on to run its operations. Management roles currently being advertised include vacancies for a Control Centre Leader, a Technics and Maintenance Leader and an International Technics and Infrastructure Director. Robert Brohl: «We’re now entering a crucial phase in the construction of our new logistics centre. That’s why we’re looking for experienced specialists and team leaders who’d like to help build and shape this location from scratch.»

Galaxus is currently advertising nine different job profiles for Neuenburg, some of which involve several vacant positions. Applications from Germany can be submitted at https://www.galaxus.de/en/joboffer. If you’re based in Alsace, France, you’re welcome to apply at https://www.galaxus.fr/en/joboffer.
