Galaxus is looking for the logistics star
by Daniel Borchers
Around 120 interested people registered for the Galaxus Logistics Casting Days in Freiburg (D) and Mulhouse (F), around 80 of them came and 34 specialists received an employment contract at the end of the day. Galaxus Deutschland is satisfied with the first Casting Days for the new Neuenburg am Rhein (D) location.
Daniel Holzapfel, Head of Warehouse Management Large Goods at Digitec Galaxus: «The specialists have a whole day to ask us questions and we have a whole day to get to know them. The concept works very well for both sides, and based on previous experience in Switzerland, we are also very satisfied with the results of the casting days for Neuchâtel.»

The Casting Days concept is new for Galaxus, as is the Neuenburg am Rhein site, for which the online retailer will need around 1,000 new employees over the next few years. Galaxus plans to hire 50 skilled workers by the end of this year for the launch of the first of two warehouses. The company has now come much closer to its goal, as the casting days in Mulhouse and Freiburg have resulted in the recruitment of 34 logistics specialists. Over the past few months, individual experts for team-leading positions in logistics, HR generalists and a site manager for Neuchâtel am Rhein have already been recruited, meaning that Galaxus now has around 40 employees on site including the casting days. Last week, 21 people were hired in Mulhouse and 13 in Fribourg.
«The special thing about the Casting Days is that everyone who is interested gets a chance, without a cover letter or CV. We sit down together on Casting Day with an open mind and can talk about qualifications and tackle practical tasks as a team», explains Daryl Alther, Head of People Attraction & Employer Branding at Galaxus. «It's important that it's not about quantity, but about quality for everyone involved. We want to give applicants an unbiased experience and create an experience in which both sides get to know each other well.» The company has already had positive experiences with casting days in Switzerland, but this was the first time in Germany.
