ASUS Dual-Band WiFi Router RT-AX89X
The best thing to do in this regard is to contact our customer service directly at https://helpcenter.digitec.ch/hc/de/requests/new. Your request can then be examined individually.
According to my research, the manufacturer does not differentiate between these revisions with a different EAN code. Unfortunately, it is not possible to separate and trace them. Unfortunately, we have no influence on this and do not currently offer such a service. A return shipment can be made if the unwanted revision arrives.
The range and data throughput of a bidirectional connection also depends on the other end, and the values are usually much lower than the RT-AX89X can provide. The RT-AX89X is dual-band, so there is a range for each band. In addition, the transmission power is not the same in all frequency ranges and has legally prescribed maximum values. So the question of which is the best cannot be answered unless you could test them all in the same environment. I operate the router in AiMesh with an RT-AX92U and can thus cover the flat around corners very well. The RT-AX89X is a good device and above all has enough capacity to serve a large number of clients. I am satisfied with it. The device is quite large!
According to the FAQ at ASUS https://www.asus.com/ch-en/support/FAQ/1044066, the RT-AX89X does not support PON-SFP modules (GPON, XGS-PON). Therefore, this undertaking should not be possible.
Hello, So I'm not sure I understand the question. I can see several possibilities: - Box in wifi router mode <=> Asus in wifi receiver mode - no (but I admit I don't see the point) - Box in wifi receiver mode <=> Asus in wifi router mode - idem - Box in wifi router mode <=> network cable to Asus in wifi gateway mode - yes (but there will be two wifi networks, that of the box, that of the Asus) - Box without wifi <=> network cable to Asus in wifi router mode - yes, that's even the point of buying a router like that
The blue RJ45 port is only 1Gbit. And according to the instructions, only for WAN.
Yes, that works, for me also for Init7. You can set which of the two is used for WAN, the other is then LAN.
Thank you for answering your question ;-)
Yes, you can select between "wan" (1g), SFTP+ or 10g Ethernet as the wan port, or aggregate two of them or fail over between two of them.
My unit, bought at Digitec at the beginning of 2022 has revision B2
Order Fiber7-X from Init7 and add an optic of the type "MSA Standard". It worked for me straight away.
Hi Sdittmar, I don't think this is possible. You need more devices. This is also not the task of a single router. The first router acts as a communication node between WAN and LAN. The basic question is more, why do you want to create a second subnet? What do you want to achieve with it?
Our supplier do not have this information, we are sorry. But we let this question opened if someone would like to share any advice about it.
Would also like to know which modules are compatible.

A single router is not a good solution for improving WLAN coverage. I recommend using a WLAN mesh router system. It consists of 2 to 3 separate WLAN routers that build up a WLAN network among themselves, also called Mesh WLAN. This works without any problems and provides excellent WLAN coverage. You can then set up the individual Mesh WLAN routers starting from the fibre optic distribution box and distributing them throughout the flat to create a wide-ranging network. Since the Asus router can do WiFi6, I would recommend this system from TP-Link with WiFi6 as an alternative. TP-Link X90. It has a fast 2.5GHz network connection, which is then connected to the Swisscom router. The WLAN of the Swisscom system is then switched off and the TP-Link Deco X90 then takes over this task. Ah, I didn't see that this question was already asked and answered.
It's behind my sofa and I can't hear anything. I think that should work without any problems.
With unfolded antennas width approx. 343mm & height 170mm
Unfortunately, there is no information on this combination from the manufacturer. In this case, we recommend that you contact Swisscom directly. :)
Got the router on galaxus for 455€ last week (5€ over uvp i think). I guess it got only limited quantities because its a very professional product. I mean not everbody needs SFP+/10 GBASE-T, so there is no real demand.
