Hello, I understand that the unit is connected to the network via cable and adds other devices via WLAN - i.e. operation as a WLAN access point. This has been added as a function with the latest firmware! See: http://www.tp-link.de/download/RE450.html#Firmware

Yes, the RE450 can be operated in two modes: Repeater and Acces Point. In repeater mode, the retransmission of data can be prevented. This means that a bridge is only formed with the existing Ethernet port, which corresponds to the desired client mode. I have used the RE450 and also an RE650 in this way.

I really use the repeater as a repeater, so I haven't tried that. As far as I know, however, it should be possible. At least if you set it up via the web interface, you can set the SSID and PW for the "repeated" WLAN separately. And it is also called "Access Point + Repeater" ;).
